Gabriel Prokofiev: Concerto for Turntables No. 1 & Cello Concerto
Two contrasting concertos by Gabriel Prokofiev are presented side by side. His Concerto for Turntables No. 1 dates from 2006 (and was expanded in 2011), and sees the composer exploring the varied possibilities of combining an orchestra with a DJ. In the more traditional Cello Concerto (2012), on the other hand, Prokofiev draws on his Russian heritage. Both are performed by the Ural Philharmonic and conductor Alexey Bogorad, with Mr Switch the DJ soloist and Boris Andrianov the cellist.
