Handel: Works for Voices & Orchestra (Live)
Handel's celebratory Utrecht Te Deum and Jubilate marked the Treaty of Utrecht, which brought the Spanish War of Succession to an end. It was first performed at St Paul's Cathedral in London in 1713. This recording of the Gaechinger Cantorey, conducted by Hans-Christoph Rademann, couples this work with an orchestral suite from Handel's opera Il pastor fido and the Ode for the Birthday of Queen Anne, composed at around the same time, and likewise celebrating peace between nations.
