Mayer: Symphonies Nos. 1 & 2

The NDR Radiophilharmonie and conductor Leo McFall present the first two symphonies by Emilie Mayer. Born in Mecklenburg in 1812, she was one of the most acclaimed and prolific female composers of her time. Her Symphonies Nos. 1 and 2 were written during her time studying with Carl Loewe in the 1840s. The First impressively demonstrates her technical skill, while the Second is highly innovative.
