Plaisir d'Amour

The great Romanian soprano Angela Gheorghiu came to prominence in 1994 when Sir Georg Solti selected her for the lead in Verdi's La traviata at the Royal Opera House. 25 years on, she celebrates that legendary performance with an album for Decca Classics, the label that issued her Traviata recording. Joined at the piano by compatriot Alexandra Dariescu, she sings classic songs by composers including Fauré, Rachmaninoff, Strauss, and the Romanian George Stephănescu.
