Shostakovich: Symphony No. 13 in B-Flat Minor, Op. 113 "Babi Yar" (Live)
Shostakovich gave his Symphony No. 13 the title Babi Yar – the name of one of the five poems by Yevgeny Yevtushenko that he sets for bass and orchestra in this unusual and poignant 1962 work. This live recording was made by Riccardo Muti, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the men of the Chicago Symphony Chorus, as well as bass soloist Alexey Tikhomirov.
