Sibelius Symphonies No 4 & 6
Sir Mark Elder and the Hallé complete their cycle of Sibelius symphonies with the Fourth and Sixth. These two highly original works show different sides of the composer, the Fourth being a deeply expressive work with dark undertones, while the Sixth is mysterious, described by the composer as "pure cold water" in contrast to the eclectic modernism prevalent in the early 20th century.
