Alban Berg: Wozzeck
About this event
Georg Büchner’s drama fragment, on which Alban Berg based his opera, is an unflinching case study of social injustice and human suffering. At the same time, it is a grotesquery that thrives on exaggeration. Accordingly, director Andreas Homoki forgoes all realism: His nightmarishly radical production is inspired by puppet theater. The production won the International Classical Music Award 2017.
