Join the final concert of the Basel Composition Competition, one of the most important prizes for contemporary music worldwide. The event includes performances of nominated works, plus interviews with the composers and the prize announcement.
The third edition of the Basel Composition Competition will take place from 4 to 7 March 2021. Since its foundation in 2017, the competition has taken place every other year, and for the 2021 edition a total of seven works for symphony orchestra and five for chamber orchestra were selected from more than 260 submitted scores. Orchestral works that have not yet been performed and have not yet been awarded a prize were eligible.

The final concert will feature three to four works from the competition, and culminate in the announcement of the prize winners, chosen by a jury chaired by the Swiss composer Michael Jarrell and including the composers Usunk Chin, Beat Furrer and Andrea Scartazzini, as well as and the director of the Paul Sacher Foundation, Dr Felix Meyer. The Basel Composition Competition awards an amount of CHF 100,000 (divided among three winners), making it one of the most important prizes for the support of Contemporary Music worldwide.

Repertoire
The jury of the Basel Composition Competition will choose four works of final round 1, 2 and 3 for the closing concert of the competition. Prizes will be awarded to three of these in turn at the end of the concert.
