Giuseppe Verdi: Nabucco

About this event
“Va pensiero sull'ali dorate” – the famous prisoners’ chorus is considered the centerpiece of the entire “Nabucco” opera. With this work, Verdi found the way to his own dramatic and musical style that is characterized by expansive lines and explosive rhythms. Michael Volle stars in his debut of the title role of Verdi's early masterpiece. Anna Smirnova joins him as Abigaille, Benjamin Bernheim in his role debut as Ismaele, Georg Zeppenfeldas Zaccaria, and Veronica Simeonias Fenena. This acclaimed new production of Opernhaus Zürich is directed by Andreas Homoki, and Fabio Luisi conducts the Philharmonia Zürich.
