Jean-Guihen Queyras takes us on a journey into the secrets of one of the most famous works for cello solo. In this episode, Jean-Guihen examines how a French Ouverture followed by the only fugue of the cycle opens the dramatic Suite in C minor.
His guest in this episode is German-born musicologist Christoph Wolff, best known for his works on the music, life, and period of Johann Sebastian Bach. Wolff is an Adams University Research Professor at Harvard University and the author of the Pulitzer Prize finalist Johann Sebastian Bach: The Learned Musician, and Bach's Musical Universe: The Composer and His Work.
