Pekka Kuusisto & The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen perform Respighi, Vaughan Williams and Beethoven

About this event
Finnish musician Pekka Kuusisto and The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen share a long-standing artistic friendship, and this visionary soloist, known for delivering innovative concerts, recently made his conducting debut with the orchestra. This programme, in which he will be seen and heard as concertmaster, soloist, and conductor, will allow him to share all of his skills with the audience.
Both Ottorino Respighi and Ralph Vaughan Williams attempted to draw from tradition to bring forth the new. The glory days of Italian and French lute music are evoked in Respighi’s Antiche danze ed arie (Ancient Dances and Arias), English folklore and lyricism in Vaughan Williams’s The Lark Ascending.
The listening experience must also have been completely new and exciting for Viennese concertgoers in April 1800, when Ludwig van Beethoven presented his First Symphony, with all manner of surprises, from the seventh chord that starts the work to the slow scales that mark the unexpected transition into the final movement.
Your ticket purchase will directly support the participating artists through IDAGIO’s Fair Artist Payout Model: IDAGIO pays 80% of the net revenue directly to the performers.
This stream is available to watch until May 18, 2021.
