Programming The Future
This interactive course is for artistic administrators, producers, curators, and presenters who are always thinking ahead to the 2023/2024 season and beyond. If you and your team have made a commitment to Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, but you’re struggling to translate this into compelling programming, this course is for you!
Programming The Future is an interactive course that will help you turn your intent into meaningful action in just one week.
You will come away from these sessions with concrete ideas and resources to help deepen your impact on your respective organizations and communities.
All sessions will be recorded and are available to participants for re-watching until Fri, Nov 17, 2023.
Course host Lara Downes shares her perspectives as a musician committed to expansion, inclusion and evolution of the art form, creating a positive space to discuss issues of EDI, audience engagement, and community impacts - to network, brainstorm, problem-solve, and share open perspectives amongst respected colleagues.
You will have the chance to personally meet and exchange ideas with Lara as well as her guest lineup of artists and industry leaders, which includes Thomas Hampson, Samantha Pollack (Washington Performing Arts), Will Liverman, Sean Hickey (Pentatone), Christopher Shiley, Till Janczukowicz, Elizabeth Sobol, and other leaders from the presenting, recording and media industries.
Each session will consist of a conversation between host Lara Downes and her featured guests, followed by an interactive roundtable discussion. The sessions will address specific topics of priority in the curating/presenting space, including:
Curating and executing of projects that authentically reflect diverse experiences and
Presenting repertoire that expands the canon while also connecting to and enhancing the familiar and beloved
Making new work for new audiences
