ReSound Beethoven - Visit@Count Lobkowitz - Wiener Akademie
About this event
With ReSound Beethoven Martin Haselböck and his Orchestra Wiener Akademie have brought Beethoven’s nine symphonies to the venues of their first performances. The Eroica Hall of the Lobkowitz Palace has played a central role in this project, with performances and recordings of the "Eroica" Symphony, the Symphony No. 4 and the Fourth Piano Concerto, all of which were premiered there.
Count Lobkowitz was an admirer and sponsor of Beethoven, whose love of music eventually led to his bankruptcy. He maintained his own private orchestra and organized almost daily concerts with operatic, orchestral and chamber music. This concert presents two Beethoven symphonies in chamber arrangements by composers who both were guests at the Lobkowitz events: the Fourth Symphony is performed in an arrangement by Johann Nepomuk Hummel for the unusual combination of fortepiano, flute, violin and cello; the Eighth in an arrangement by his student Carl Czerny for piano four hands. Our performers are the pianists Erich Traxler and Mikayel Balyan; Charles Brink, flute; Elisabeth Wiesbauer, violin; and Jörg-Ulrich Krah, Violoncello. Our pianists play on a historic Viennese Pianoforte by Pottje built around 1820.
Before the concert Martin Haselböck will accompany you on a visit to the atelier and restoration workshop of Gert Hecher, where some of the most beautiful historic pianos have been brought back to life. Afterwards, join Martin on a stroll through the fantastic palace, where you will hear about Count Lobkowitz and his lifelong support for Beethoven’s Music.
The audience will then also have the possibility to meet Martin and the performing artists in the virtual Green Room.
Your ticket purchase will directly support the participating artists through IDAGIO’s Fair Artist Payout Model: IDAGIO pays 80% of the net revenue directly to the performers.
This stream is available to watch until December 31, 2021.
