The Dvořák Cycle – Petr Altrichter, Prague Symphony Orchestra & Chorus, Prague Philharmonic Choir, Popp, Randová, Protschka, Mikuláš – 6/6

About this event
Antonín Dvořák was a quintessentially Czech composer. Musically influenced by both Wagner and Brahms, he integrated into classical structures melodies borrowed from and reminiscent of the rustic folk music, dances and songs of his Bohemian homeland. His music is above all enjoyable and has always been a perennial favourite in the Romantic repertoire.
This series of Dvořák concerts, recorded live from the Alte Oper Frankfurt, features the Prague Symphony Orchestra and Chorus and the Prague Philharmonic Choir, led by three leading Czech conductors: Petr Altrichter, Jiří Bělohlávek and Libor Pešek. Guest soloists include sopranos Lucia Popp, Lívia Ághová and Eva Jenisová, alto Eva Randová, tenor Josef Protschka, bass Peter Mikuláš, bass-baritone Ivan Kusnjer, pianist Igor Ardašev, violinist Ivan Ženatý and cellist Mischa Maisky, who plays Dvořák's Cello Concerto, one of his most beautiful works.
