The Wanderlust Series: Schubert's Winterreise
About this event
Making her debut in IDAGIO’s Global Concert Hall as part of Arts@Future and The Wanderlust Series, Nigerian-American soprano Francesca Chiejina performs Schubert’s iconic song cycle Winterreise. For the performance, captured live in Blackheath Halls, London in March 2021, Chiejina is joined at the piano by series curator Jocelyn Freeman.
The event includes a virtual green room conversation with both performers, Thomas Hampson and Dr Natasha Loges, chaired by Natasha Riordan.
The Wanderlust Series is curated by pianist Jocelyn Freeman, and presents songs celebrating both the rewards of roaming in nature and the earnest interior world of conflicted personal journeys. Paying homage to Wilhelm Müller's love of travel, this series also includes the complete Schubert song cycles. All performances are subtitled in English using translations by Richard Stokes, author of The Book of Lieder (Faber, 2000).
This concert is presented as part of the Arts@Future series in the IDAGIO Global Concert Hall, curated by the Hampsong Foundation.
Your ticket purchase will directly support the participating artists through IDAGIO’s Fair Artist Payout Model: IDAGIO pays 70% of the net revenue directly to the performers.
This stream is available to watch for six months.
