Essential Morricone
The creator of some of the most memorable film scores in cinematic history, Italian composer Ennio Morricone (1928–2020) is arguably best known for his music he produced for classic films directed by Sergio Leone in the 1960s, including 'A Fistful of Dollars', 'The Good, the Bad and the Ugly' and 'Once Upon a Time in the West' – the so-called Spaghetti Westerns, although Morricone preferred the term "Italian Westerns". Though his career as a leading film composer spanned more than half a century, Morricone also composed extensively for the concert hall, and has long been a favourite of classical musicians who have been drawn to his unmatched gift for melody and atmosphere.
