Debussy – Rameau
Award-winning Icelandic pianist Víkingur Ólafsson’s third recording for Deutsche Grammophon unites the music of two revolutionary French composers: Jean-Philippe Rameau and Claude Debussy. Though these two composers, separated by a century and a half, may seem contrasting, Ólafsson hears “a kind of freedom and discipline, juxtaposed” in their music. His album alternates music by them both, and includes his own Rameau arrangement, “The Arts and the Hours”. BBC Music Magazine Choice
