Handel: Brockes-Passion, HWV 48
BBC Music Magazine Award Nominee 2020. Handel’s Brockes-Passion was first performed in 1719, an account of the death of Christ by poet Barthold Heinrich Brockes. Despite its lack of fame, it is considered one of Handel’s masterpieces. Celebrating the work’s 300th anniversary, the Academy of Ancient Music and Richard Egarr perform from a newly created edition of the score, with soloists including Elizabeth Watts.
