Handel's Queens
Faustina Bordoni and Francesca Cuzzoni were known as two of the finest singers of the 18th century, and in their time they were wrongly cast as rivals. Much music was written for both of these two phenomenal talents, and their contrasting styles are revived today by sopranos Mary Bevan and Lucy Crowe. They sing music by composers including Handel, Hasse, Porpora and Vivaldi, played by London Early Opera and conducted by Bridget Cunningham.
