Richard Strauss: Also sprach Zarathustra, Op. 30 / Ein Heldenleben, Op. 40
The Oslo Philharmonic – 100 years old in 2019 – and their chief conductor Vasily Petrenko initiate a series of recordings of Richard Strauss's orchestral works with two of his best loved tone poems. Friedrich Nietzsche was the source of inspiration for Also sprach Zarathustra, first performed in 1896, while Strauss's own life is the subject of Ein Heldenleben (1899).
