Arianna
Mezzo-soprano Kate Lindsey sings three 18th-century cantatas that tell the myth of Ariadne and her abandonment on the island of Naxos. Alessandro Scarlatti’s Ebra d’amor fuggia dates from 1707, while Haydn’s Arianna a Naxos was written in 1789. The third work is by Haydn’s pupil Sigismund Neukomm. Jonathan Cohen conducts the ensemble Arcangelo.
