Schubert: Music for Violin, Vol. 1
The first of a two-album series of Schubert's complete violin music features Ariadne Daskalakis with accompaniment from Paolo Giacometti on fortepiano and Die Kölner Akademie and conductor Michael Alexander Willens. Several early works dating from 1816-17 may have been written under the tuition of Antonio Salieri, including the Konzertstück D 345 and the Polonaise D 580, both for violin and orchestra. In contrast, the Fantasy in C minor D 934 is a late work, dated 1827, of great virtuosity. The performers play on period instruments.
