There are sadness, stagnation, despair, on the one hand, but also meditation, or even a mocking wit and cheerful, resigned harmonisation with the tick-tocking transience that characterises all human existence.
This playlist shows musical repetition in all its multifaceted glory. Each work, composed for piano, has been hand-picked to follow on harmonically from the the previous one. The result is a kind of hybridised orgy of repetition: taking us once through the entire circle of fifths - on 88 keys.
