Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra: Mozart & Mazzoli Premiere
About this event
Jennifer Koh, a prolific champion of new works, shines in the premiere of a CSO co-commission by Missy Mazzoli. “The Violin Concerto (Procession) casts the soloist as a soothsayer, sorcerer, healer and pied piper-type character, leading the orchestra through five interconnected healing spells.” -Mazzoli
The May Festival Chorus returns to the stage at Cincinnati Music Hall for the first time since March 2020 to perform Mozart’s unfinished Great Mass, taking us from anxiety and darkness to glorious transfiguration. The mass takes inspiration from J.S. Bach’s B Minor Mass and the counterpoint of the Baroque period. However, the arias are distinctly operatic; thereby, creating a captivating mix of styles.
Violin Concerto (Procession) was commissioned by the National Symphony and the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra for soloist Jennifer Koh.
This stream is available to watch until December 31, 2023.
