The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen: Living legends & Works by Schubert and Berwald

About this event
Schubert was not yet 20 years old when he created his Third Symphony from a spontaneous inner impulse, a light-filled piece suffused with dancing gaiety and Viennese tradition.
Berwald was born in Stockholm one year before Schubert. He found it difficult to establish himself as a composer, despite his good connections in the music scenes of Berlin and Vienna, so he also worked as an orthopaedist and ran a sawmill and a glass-blowing workshop. It is largely thanks to Herbert Blomstedt that Berwald’s highly original musical heritage, characterised by a fine classicism, has survived until today.
Following his magnificent interpretation of Beethoven’s ‘Missa solemnis’ in 2012, the now 93-year-old Swedish maestro Herbert Blomstedt returns to the podium of the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen for this greatly anticipated programme of works by Schubert and Berwald.
