Paavo Järvi and the Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich – Mahler’s Symphony No. 3
About this event
In September 2021, the Tonhalle Zurich reopened the doors of the illustrious Grosse Saal after four years of renovation. Hardly any work is as well suited to push the freshly renovated hall to its limits at the start of the season as Gustav Mahler's Third Symphony (his longest!): With a huge orchestra, the alto Wiebke Lehmkuhl, the ladies of the Zurich Sing-Akademie and the Zurich Boys' Choir, the entire stage was immediately full. Mahler, too, enjoyed lake views while composing at the Austrian Attersee. The symphony spans a wide panorama from images of nature to angelic song to an extended hymn to love. Music Director Paavo Järvi, a renowned expert on Mahler's music, conducts.
This stream is available to watch until December 31, 2022.
