Global Concert Hall
About this event
Making their recital debuts on IDAGIO’s Global Concert Hall, Julien Van Mellaerts and Jocelyn Freeman take us on the tragic journey of the miller boy in Schubert’s pioneering song cycle, Die schöne Müllerin, as part of The Wanderlust Series. This performance was captured with a live, socially-distanced audience in Blackheath Halls, London in September 2020.
The event includes a pre-concert talk with Dr Natasha Loges and Jocelyn Freeman, chaired by Natasha Riordan.
The Wanderlust Series is curated by pianist Jocelyn Freeman, and presents songs celebrating both the rewards of roaming in nature and the earnest world of inner, conflicting personal journeys. Paying homage to Wilhelm Müller's love of travel, this series includes the complete Schubert song cycles and a performance of Beethoven and Schumann from Mark Padmore and Julius Drake. All performances are subtitled in English using the translation by Richard Stokes, author of The Book of Lieder (Faber, 2000).
Your ticket purchase will directly support the participating artists through IDAGIO’s Fair Artist Payout Model: IDAGIO pays 70% of the net revenue directly to the performers.
