Mendelssohn: Piano Concerto No. 2 & Symphony No. 1 - Kristian Bezuidenhout, Pablo Heras-Casado, Freiburger Barockorchester
Mendelssohn’s First Symphony in C minor was written in 1824 when the composer was only 15 years old. It paved the way for later orchestral masterpieces like the sparkling Piano Concerto No. 2 of 1837, performed here by Kristian Bezuidenhout. Pablo Heras-Casado conducts the period-instrument Freiburger Barockorchester in these two works as well as the concert overture Die schöne Melusine.
