Schumann, Saint-Saëns & Glière: Works for Horn & Orchestra - Maskuniitty, Oramo, Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra
Finnish hornist Markus Maskuniitty plays four works spanning a century. Schumann’s famed Konzertstück for four horns and orchestra is paired with his earlier Adagio and Allegro, arranged for horn and orchestra by Ernest Ansermet. Also featured are concertos by Saint-Saëns and Glière, whose 1951 concerto was one of his last works. Sakari Oramo and the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, of which Maskuniitty is a principal, provide the accompaniment.
